Malmö "From rights to justice" 21 march

Malmö – Sweden

For more than 10 years, the City of Malmö, in cooperation with local civil society actors, commemorates 21 March by organizing a public free seminar, making it possible for professionals and activists, academics, students and the general public to participate and interact.

The purpose of the annual event is to contribute to enhanced knowledge about the realities of racism and racial discrimination, how to combat, and to stimulate exchange and cooperation between individuals and organizations. The design and content varies over the years to adjust to current topics of main interest and concern.

This year the event's title is "From rights to justice" and focuses on the importance of access to justice for victims of racial discrimination and racist hate crimes.
A recent study on the current situation and challenges in Sweden will be presented, followed by workshops on methods to counter racist abuse and racial discrimination in face to face everyday situations and online. The seminar finalizes with a medley with local representatives of the media, academia and NGOs on their personal strategies to act against racism.
The seminar will be opened by Mr Morten Kjaerum, Director of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute (Lund).
