ECCAR and UNESCO together with the Municipality of Bologna organize the First ICCAR Global Steering Committee on 17 and 18 April 2016 in Bologna that counts on the participation of all Regional Coalitions launched (Africa, Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, Canada, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, United States of America).
A Global Steering Committee for ICCAR will strengthen the Coalition's global impact and visibility. The first summit will provide the occasion to chart a common course for strategic action, global solidarity and international collaboration. Last September 2015 has been adopted an ambitious UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that highlights the key role of cities in promoting peaceful and inclusive development. In October 2016 the New Urban Agenda will be defined in Quito, Ecuador, at the Habitat III Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development.
