Uppsala is the fourth largest city in Sweden with more than 210,000 inhabitants. It is one of the fastest growing municipalities in the country, with a 2% yearly population growth. There are plans to build 45,000 dwellings (houses and flats) by 2030.
The city has less than 6% unemployment rate, which is amongst the lowest in Sweden. The city is linguistically diverse. Most people are bilingual and with English as a second language. 23% of the population in the municipality has an immigrant background from more than 40 different countries.
The population in the city is highly educated. 49% of the workforce has a post college education. 62% of the youth continue with academic studies after finishing college. There are two universities located in the city: Uppsala university and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Together they have more than 40,000 students.
