Human Rights Day 2022
“To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity. " - Nelson Mandela
Today we celebrate Human Rights Day. As coalition of 130 cities all across Europe we know that we can never take human rights for guaranteed. We need to protect them locally, in our cities, day by day. Political parties that represent racist ideologies sit in our parliaments. Urban alliances are now more important than ever to secure human rights on the ground.
Why does the Human Rights Day take place on December 10?
Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on 10 December. It commemorates the day in 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
