The Environmental Justice City Lab is a joint initiative of the European Coalition of Cities Against Racism (ECCAR) and the Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance (CNCA). It brings together city representatives working in anti-racism and social inclusion with those working in climate, environment, and sustainability. The goal is to deepen the understanding of how these (policy) areas intersect and how stronger collaboration can therefore advance environmental justice at the local level.
Through a series of interactive sessions, the City Lab combines inputs, peer learning, and practical exchange. Participants explore the links between their areas of work, while sharing experiences, identifying common challenges, and developing practical approaches for cross-departmental collaboration.
By strengthening connections between these fields, the City Lab aims to support cities in embedding equity and human rights more systematically into environmental and climate action, while ensuring that anti-racism and social inclusion work also considers the environmental dimensions of inequality.
The work is coordinated by Angelo Camufingo (ECCAR) and Tracy Morgenstern (CNCA). To learn more, contact us at office@eccar.info.
