In the context of the temporary exhibition “Us and Them: From Prejudice to Racism”, the conference series “Jeudis de l’actualité” (Topical Thursdays) welcomes Ms Lucienne Redercher, Vice-Mayor of the City of Nancy and Vice-President of the European Coalition of Cities against Racism (ECCAR). She will speak on the themes of citizenship and living together at 7:00 p.m. at the Jean Rouch Auditorium of the Musée de l’Homme, on 8 June 2017.
Organized under the patronage of UNESCO, the first major temporary exhibition of the Musée de l'Homme since its reopening, "Us and Them – From Prejudice to Racism", proposes an original immersive scenography which aims to shed new light on racist behaviour and prejudices.
The exhibition also features UNESCO’s International Coalition of Inclusive and Sustainable Cities – ICCAR as a robust platform for combating racism and discrimination, and promoting inclusion and diversity in societies.
ICCAR (formerly the International Coalition of Cities against Racism) was launched by UNESCO in 2004. It promotes international cooperation between cities to strengthen advocacy for global solidarity and collaboration, and promote inclusive urban development free from all forms of discrimination, by advancing joint action through the development of participatory city-level policies, services and initiatives. ICCAR aims to strengthen a global network of cities to exchange experiences and knowledge in order to improve their policies against racism, discrimination, xenophobia and exclusion.
