ECCAR is hiring a new coordinator for the “anti-Black racism working group”

Are you interested in the topic of anti-Black racism? Do you have experience in writing policy briefs? Can you apply your expertise in academic writing to develop a collection of good-practices of local authorities in the field of anti-Black racism?

ECCAR is hiring a part time coordinator for the working group on anti-Black racism. The working group aims to analyze how local governments can take action against anti-Black racism and implement the UN Decade for People of African Descent in their capacities as democratic institutions, rule-makers, employers, service providers and public contractors. For this reason, the coordinator will coordinate the activities of the working group to collect good practice initiatives from various cities throughout Europe focusing on targeted measures to tackle anti-Black racism and the implementation of the UN Decade for People of African Descent in different areas and through various strategies. The strategies may include action plans, measuring and reporting anti-Black racism, empowerment activities, interreligious dialogue, migrant councils, welcome services, diversity in public administration, education and law enforcement, access to public services, housing policies, intercultural educational, sports and leisure programs, civic education, anti-bias trainings and measures to counter, prevent and monitor hate speech. To publish a collection of good practices at the end of the project, the coordinator will organize and coordinate several online-meetings of the working group. In the next stage of the project, the coordinator will categorize, review and publish the collected policies to develop the final product of the working group.

About you:

You will need to show experience in the areas of project management and the field of anti-discrimination and anti-Black racism.  You will have to apply your expertise in writing and reviewing policy briefs. We are seeking someone who has a positive, can-do attitude and enjoys working in a multicultural environment.

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience of working across multiple departments and teams
  • Degree in Social Science / Political Science
  • Academic writing skills in English
  • Fluent proficiency in written and spoken English

Duration: 8 months (starting date: as soon as possible)

Hours: Part time 30% based on TV-L 11 (German public service salary scale)
