Roma Equality, Inclusion and Participation

The ECCAR working group Roma Equality, Inclusion and Participation focuses on different actions local authorities can take to follow the EU Roma strategic framework and to tackle antigypsyism in cooperation with local, national and EU-wide stakeholders. The working group also aims to emphasise how cities can mainstream the needs of groups encompassed under the umbrella term “Roma” based on aspects of the ECCAR 10 Point Plan of Action, such as equality, social inclusion, cultural heritage, diversity, non-discrimination, and youth empowerment.

* Following the example of the European Commission, ECCAR has adopted the umbrella term for its policy documents and discussions, if not otherwise specified. The term thus encompasses diverse groups living across Europe, including Roma, Sinti, Kale, Romanichels, Boyash/Rudari, Ashkali, Egyptians, Yenish, Dom, Lom, Rom and Abdal, as well as Traveller populations (gens du voyage, Gypsies, Camminanti, etc.)
