In the framework of its new Working Group on Equality Data Collection, led by ECCAR’s Vice-Presidency of the City of Barcelona, ECCAR presents its first Toolkit chapter focussing on how local authorities can collect equality data at the local level. The chapter provides practical guidance on data collection for small and medium-sized cities first and foremost, based on practical experience gathered from cities as well as the knowledge acquired by the ETC over the last years.
The collection of equality data is a key element in combating racism. Local data is therefore central to the local fight against racism. There are various ways in which local authorities can approach the collection and analysis of this data and many ways in which they can benefit from it. The chapter describes three different scenarios of how to proceed depending on how much awareness and data already exist in the respective city.
Based on these scenarios, ECCAR will offer online workshops for member cities to discuss and develop resource- and needs-orientated strategies in a peer-to-peer exchange.
