Engaged for many years in the fight against racism, discriminations, xenophobia and homophobia, the city of Bordeaux has contracted multiple commitments and set up many actions in favour of the fight against racism and discriminations, amongst which:
- 2006 : creation of a Council of the diversity and a Comittee of monitoring and actions against discriminations (COBADE)
- 2007: signature of the Charter of diversity
- 2009: signature with the High Authority HALDE and, in 2015, with the
Defender of the rights, of a convention promoting the access to the rights as
regards fight against discriminations
- 2009: creation of "Bordeaux Partage" (inter-religious and citizens of
Bordeaux Council)
- 2014: creation of the Observatory of Equality
- 2014: creation of the « La Quinzaine of Equality, Diversity et Citizenship »
- 2017: creation of the « Week of the Memory » within the framework of the
commemorations of the Slavery, Slave Trade and their abolitions
- June 2017 : creation of the Trevention and fight against discriminations

In the continuation of its investment in the field of the fight against all racisms and exclusions, the City of Bordeaux has joined in October 2018 the European Coalition of Cities against Racism (ECCAR).
The aim is to exchange experiments, to be able to improve its policies to fight against racism and discriminations by integrating the ECCAR "10 Points Action Plan" and to disseminate its own actions on the matter.
