Toulouse, the capital of the newly instated Occitanie Region of the Haute-Garonne Department and the headquarters of Toulouse Metropole, is the 4th largest city in France and is home to 466,297 inhabitants and over 100,000 students. Commonly known as the « Pink City » due to the plethora of red brick, Toulouse sports the traditional architecture found in southern France. The city is home to many cultural treasures such as the Canal du Midi, linking Toulouse to the city of Sète, which has been listed as a UNESCO world heritage site since 1996, as well as the Saint Sernin basilica, listed on the Santiago de Compostela route since 1998. With the Airbus Group world headquarters located in near-by Colomiers, Toulouse is also considered as the Cited as the most athletic city in France by Equipe Magazine, Toulouse is home to many elite sports teams notably the Stade Toulousain rugby team boasting 19 Champions of France titles as well as 4 European Rugby Championships.
